About Corsair Blue Jazz Orchestra

"That's the real stuff, isn't it? It sounded like the old bands."

2018 was a year of great venues and great performances for Corsair Blue Jazz Orchestra. Our year started with Roots and Blues on the Main Stage at the Lancaster Marriot and ended at the Brossman Ballroom at Masonic Villages with America’s Sweethearts. Along the way we were thrilled to perform at the Emerald Foundation for their St. Patrick’s Day Benefit and the 2nd Annual Spring Fling. CBJO’s season continued at the Junction Center for the Veritas, for FoodStock on the grounds of the Pennsylvania Renaissance Fair, at Highland Presbyterian for the Dorothy Rose Smith Concert Series and the Fall Kickoff, at VAMC Lebanon then at the Viva Center. We had the privilege to perform the music of the “Greatest Generation” for over 2200 people this year. 2018 also marked the first appearance of the CBJO Jazz Trio, performing at Veritas and the Highland Holiday Festival in November and the establishment of our YouTube page.

2019 marks the 5th Anniversary of the founding of the Corsair Blue Jazz Orchestra.

5th Anniversary Benchmarks:

2014- On February 10th, 2014 at 7:30pm the band sat down for its first rehearsal, the first chart rehearsed by CBJO - Stan Kenton’s “Intermission Riff”. The First Gig for the band was played on August 15th, 2014 at Cassel Vineyards in Hershey. CBJO closed at Willow Valley North on November 6th, 2014. During 2014 CBJO became a Pennsylvania Non-Profit corporation and 501 C3.

2015 Inaugurated our Student Concert Series and our Veteran’s “Evening Out” Concert Series. CBJO played for and with the students at Columbia High School, and for the Veterans at VAMC Lebanon and VAMC Coatesville with our special guests, the Manhattan Dolls. The trio performed several pieces with the newly established CBJO Jazz Combo at both venues. 2015 also featured our first “major” gigs- Veritas at the Marriot in June and Viva at Willow Valley Communities on September 24th. CBJO’s Brass Carolers made their first appearance at Long Home with Highland Presbyterian Church in December. 2015 also marked the adoption of the iconic CBJO stripe tie.CBJO established it’s website in 2015 as well.

2016 Marked the beginning of our Veterans Day Concerts, at Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church in Lititz on November 19th, 2016.

2017 was a landmark year for the band, welcoming Emerald Foundation as a Benefactor, holding the First Annual Spring Fling at the Emerald Ballroom. Our season ending Veterans Day Concert at the Cultural Center at Willow Valley was huge. For the first time CBJO (full band) performed multiple charts with our guest trio, America’s Sweethearts, throughout the concert along with several pieces featuring the Jazz Combo and America’s Sweethearts.

As we enter our fifth full season, we would like to thank all of our friends and benefactors that have enabled us to perform music we love, the music of the “Greatest Generation” for you.

“We feel keeping this music alive is not only our passion, but our responsibility...”
